2012 marks the ten-year anniversary of the Leaders Shop in Chicago. Tasked with giving a one-of-a-kind look to the adidas Originals Forum, the pioneer streetwear label turned directly to their Windy City roots for inspiration. The first permanent settlers in the area were the Potawatomi, so they have created a Native American theme, complete with a removable moccasin fringe on the heel. The Mid is finished off with zigzag stitching and premium leather laces. These will be available December 17 at LDRS1354 in Chicago.

Berlin-based eyewear company MYKITA pull the covers off of its Spring/Summer 2012 collection. At the heart of the new developments is the use of a new material, Mylon. The collection presented here positions itself as a luxury sports fashion line, which according to MYKITA will help create an all-new silo that merges the sensibilities of both fashion and performance. The use of Mylon ensures both lightweight comfort and a degree of adaptability to the wearer’s face which will bode well for activities such as golf. Several models will use Zeiss-developed lenses specifically catering to “hipster golfers,” as MYKITA likes to put it.

“SNAKES IN THE GRASS” Art Show Tokyo @ BEAMS T HARAJUKU

In collaboration with graffiti artist Pez1, the “SNAKES IN THE GRASS” Art Show Tokyo opened up this past Friday at BEAMS T HARAJUKU in Tokyo, featuring new works from artist Massan Fluker. Opening a little under a year since its inaugural San Francisco exhibit back in February of 2010, the show highlights a plethora of works on display from both contributors as well as a range of collaborative T-shirts. The show which opened up November 11, will run through November 27.

nano universe x THE NORTH FACE & DUVETICA Winter Down Vests

Japanese retailer nano universe collaborates with two brands to bring us these down vests for the fall/winter season. First up is a joint project with THE NORTH FACE who have taken a Harris Tweed pattern and printed it directly on to a Pertex insulated body. Next is a collaboration with DUVETICA which has resulted in a heavy weight vest manufactured from a wool fabric created by reputable Italian brand Cerutti giving it a classic high quality look. Retailing at ¥31,500 JPY (approximately $400 USD) and ¥77,700 JPY (approximately $990 USD) respectively, both of these vest will be in select nano universe stores soon.

October’s Very Own x Roots Varsity Jacket

While we gear up for the much-anticipated release of Drake’s sophomore studio album “Take Care,” the Toronto-based emcee’s October’s Very Own clique has linked with Canada’s Roots to produce a pair of limited edition jackets. The garb will be optioned in two colorways, as each features OVO branding intricately placed throughout. The varsity jackets will see a release on November 5 and retail at $500 USD. Check Toronto’s Nomad, as they will be available in limited quantities.

Nokia Flexible User Interface Prototype

The Nokia “Kinetic Device” made its debut at the Nokia World show in London recently. Two years in the making, this gesture-based gadget lacks keys or buttons in favor of a thin flat OLED screen, which executes commands when the body of the device is flexed. Experimental carbon nanotubes within the device allow it to be twisted and warped to scroll through photo albums or stop and play music. Designer Tapani Jokinen maintains that this Kinetic Device will likely not see production soon but represents the tip of the innovation iceberg from the Scandinavian mobile company.

Dr. Dre brings us another product to enhance the sonic experience, this time teaming up with illest, for the clothing brand’s 3rd year anniversary. illest Beats Pro by Beats By Dre is the reference headphone “designed by audio professionals for audio professionals.” The headphones are built from strong and lightweight aluminum for reliability in any situation. They also include flip-up ear cups so users won’t have to take the Beats Pro off their heads when monitoring the room, as well as dual input/output cable ports to share mixes through multiple headphones. Nike Zoom Rookie LWP “Glow in the Dark”

Following an initial look into the Binary Blue colorway, Nike begins an official roll-out of its Zoom Rookie LWP in a variety of coveted colorways, including this Glow-in-the-Dark version. Modeled after several Penny Hardaway classics, this hybrid welcomes another recognizable design to the already legendary Penny stable. Construction highlights include a nubuck and foamposite upper, with a simple white and black color block. Look for these now through select Nike accounts, including The Darkside Initiative.
